John Bunyan
lesen!*John Bunyan (1628-1688) erhielt als der Sohn eines Kesselflickers nur eine sehr einfache Schulausbildung und erlernte danach den Beruf seines Vaters. Nach seiner Soldatenzeit im englischen Bürgerkrieg durchlebte er eine tiefe religiöse Krise und schloß sich ab ca. 1653 einer Baptistengemeinde in Bedford an und trat als Prediger auf. 1660 wurde er aufgrund seiner Religion verhaftet und musste für zwölf Jahre ins Gefängnis. Dort verfaßte er mehrere literarische Werke, in einer zweiten Haftzeit ab 1675 schrieb er dann das berühmte 'The Pilgrim's Progress'.
