The Lion and the Unicorn
Das Unicorn (Einhorn) ist in der Heraldik ein Symbol für Schottland. Bis zur Vereinigung von England und Schottland mit dem 'Act of Union' im Jahr 1707 zeigte das königliche schottische Wappen zwei Einhörner, danach ein schottisches Einhorn und einen englischen Löwen ('The Lion and the Unicorn').
Der Kinderreim spielt auch eine wichtige Rolle in 'Through the Looking-Glass' von Lewis Carroll und 'Stardust' von Neil Gaiman.
The Lion and the Unicorn Nursery Rhyme
Die legendäre Feindschaft zwischen Einhorn und Löwe beschreibt ein bekannter Nursery Rhyme:
The lion and the unicorn
Were fighting for the crown
The lion beat the unicorn
All around the town.
Some gave them white bread,
And some gave them brown;
Some gave them plum cake
and drummed them out of town.
