Scots Wha Hae

'Scots Wha Hae' stammt von Robert Burns (1759 bis 1796), einem schottischen Dichter.

Das im Scots-Dialekt verfaßte patriotische Lied (englisch: 'Scots, who have') diente lange als inoffizielle Nationalhymne von Schottland (Vereinigtes Königreich / Großbritannien), wurde inzwischen aber von Scotland the Brave und Flower of Scotland abgelöst.

Der zu einer traditionelle schottischen Volksmelodie vertonte Text ist eine fiktive Rede von Robert the Bruce vor der berühmten 'Battle of Bannockburn' (1314), in der Schottland für seine Unabhängigkeit von England kämpfte.

Scots, wha hae wi Wallace bled,

Scots, wham Bruce has aften led,

Welcome tae yer gory bed,

Or tae victorie.

Now's the day, an now's the hour:

See the front o battle lour,

See approach proud Edward's power -

Chains and Slaverie.

Wha will be a traitor knave?

Wha will fill a coward's grave?

Wha sae base as be a slave?

Let him turn an flee.

Wha, for Scotland's king and law,
